The rain cleared up just in time for Anne and Roy’s mountain ceremony at Deer Valley. Before the ceremony, Anne surprised Roy with a shotgun that has belonged to her family for a long time. Roy’s gift to Anne was a sweet pair of powder skis that will hopefully come in handy often this winter. The gifts were exchanged inside to contain the alarming sight of a bride carrying a shotgun.

We dodged the downhill mountain bikers on the way to make the portrait below – it was starting to rain but I managed to get one of my favorite shots in the few seconds we were out in this field.

Catherine and her staff at Deer Valley did a fantastic job coordinating the event. Everything went smoothly and they were especially hospitable to the other vendors such as myself and the John Flanders Band. The reception was held in the Silver Lake Lodge, with a cocktail hour on the patio outside. This was the first event held on a brand new patio outside the Silver Lake Lodge finished in time for this wedding. Anne and Roy danced to “Ring of Fire”, made famous by Johnny Cash. Since I am so focused on making pictures, I usually have a hard time remembering what song was used for the first dance, but in this case it was very easy.

The last shot on the right is by my assistant Jen; she climbed up to the balcony to shoot from above only to find the door locked when she climbed back down! See more pictures in the slideshow – click on the link below to view.
