Jordan & Chad’s Wedding | The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, Rancho Santa Fe, CA

My friend Erin flew me out to San Diego, California recently to photograph a beautiful wedding with her.  Jordan and Chad were married at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, in the foothills just north of San Diego.  It’s always fun to somewhere new to photograph, and the misty San Diego sunlight and perfect weather was a welcome change of pace.  Since I was the second shooter for this wedding, I spent more time with the groom.  Chad is incredibly fortunate to work with and live close to many of his closest friends from childhood.  Chad and his groomsmen all grew up in Alabama and now work for the company founded by the best man, Jamie.  They were all very friendly and down to earth.

It is fun to be the second shooter sometimes.  It gives me a chance to experiment with different perspectives and find pictures that I don’t always have the chance to see.  I especially love the opportunites offered by the twilight.

Apart from the wedding, I enjoyed a little bit of free time down in La Jolla.  I took a walk on the beach and watched surfers play in the waves for a while – I definitely want to try that sometime.  I also satisfied my cravings for sushi and fish tacos.  Take a look at the slideshow below to see more pictures from Jordan and Chad’s wedding.

Caitlin & Matt’s Engagment Session – New York, NY

I have been travelling all over the place in the last few weeks and as a result I am a few shoots behind in my blogging.  In the last couple of weeks I have flown to San Diego to shoot a beautiful wedding with Erin, and driven to Oregon for Thanksgiving.  Caitlin, Matt and I met up a few weeks ago in Manhattan for their engagement session.  I was there for the Photo+ expo, a big trade show for photographers and the industry.  I love to visit New York City, but I always have a long list of things I want to do and not enough time for most of it.  We met at one of my favorite places to go – The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  As a kid I would sulk as my mother would drag me there, but now it is the first place I want to go when I am in the city.  I found out later that Caitlin and Matt’s first date included some time at an art museum, which makes those pictures a little bit more appropriate.  We made our way into Central Park from there.  There were thousands of pumpkins being set up in the park for the pumpkin festival!

What a fun place to shoot!  It was threatening to rain while we were shooting, but it held off until we were done.  Caitlin and Matt are having their wedding next summer in Vermont.  I photographed Caitlin’s brother Greg’s wedding the summer before last, so it will be fun to see her family again.
